Slow-Cooker Double Ginger Apple Butter


Crystallized ginger and fresh gingerroot give this easy, slow-cooker apple butter a one-two punch of flavor your friends and family will love.

Ingredients

lb Gala apples, peeled, cored and shredded
1/2
cup packed light brown sugar
2
tablespoons finely chopped crystallized ginger
1
tablespoon finely chopped gingerroot
1/4
teaspoon salt

Directions
  • 1 Spray 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Add all ingredients. Stir to combine.
  • 2 Cover; cook on High heat setting 3 hours.
  • 3 Uncover; cook on High heat setting 1 to 2 hours longer, stirring occasionally, until mixture has thickened. Turn off heat; let cool 15 minutes.
  • 4 In blender or food processor, puree mixture (in batches, if needed) until smooth.
  • 5 Cool completely. Transfer apple butter to jars; seal tightly. Store in refrigerator.
